    You like to use the fact that you have a better education to take the higher road or to beat people down with it as well as being the ultimate keyboard warrior. It is somewhat pathetic you miss the point entirely cause you are to busy trying to be pc.

    My overall point is very simple im not bitter I am not stubborn. I simply have this idea that we should look past race or creed. If someone had kids learning or showing pictures of Ted Bundey I wouldn’t get offended either.

    soo that’s why asian americans show so much animosity towards african americans. I use to live in asia and I never received so much hate than in the US from a lot of asian americans. its like each group of imigrants learn to integrate into AMerican society by hating African Americans and then of course they get the status of being white. Except Asian Americans won’t be getting that status. BTW the most educated group in the US are African immigrants :P

    Why do you have black history month to begin with? Blacks are less then 10% of the population. There is more Hispanics in this country. We should have Hispanic history month instead. Their history is much richer and culture is much more diverse. Black history month should be downgraded to Black history week.

    I did mention an anecdotal situation earlier, however it was a situation that is described by research and articles on similar situations. If you are Asian, you are at a disadvantage for college admissions.

    I have to say, I’m glad you’re from the UK; you’re disjointed and show little skill in public discourse.

    Helpful hints: an analogy is a comparison.

    You were implying that teaching Hitler in the context of WWII by black teachers was analogous to white teachers teaching about OJ during black history month. Yeah, that’s weak sauce.

    “Trailer Park” is a metaphor for a person whose life experience lends to uncouth, uninformed, and hateful POVs and behaviors.

    Untrue! Many states are unspecific on what knowledge needs to be attained therefor you can’t measure it. And it’s pessimistic to assume, since you can’t measure it, a bias on behalf of any race!

    As for the rest – I have no interest in having a pissing contest with you. But I will say that a sure sign one is loosing a debate is when said person starts slinging insults!

    If you are trying to restate your supposed anectdotal situation as a hypothetical isolated situation, I am not going to take your bait. It’s pretty obvious what your intentions are, as you had made them so crystal clear from the start.

    There is no amount of discussion that would provide a bridge of agreement between us on this issue. Thank you for providing a very challenging debate, and have a great day.

    And what about us Asian people who are discriminated against in the workplace, who are negatively affected by affirmative action, and who have high rates of depression and suicide?

    2. The study of Hitler in the context of Modern US & world history can be generalized to a broad historical impact. And the study of Hitler is not intended to demonstrate the significant posItive contributions of Whites.

    OJ Simpson, Dennis Rodman, and Rupaul are contemporary figures who haven’t had an historically significant impact. And they do not best represent the contributions of African Americans.

    Thus, firing teachers for teaching about Hitler in WWII is non sequitur.

    I would also throw in Mahammad Ali. But I have a sneaky suspicion that presenting a poster of a historical black sports star who refused to play by the rules of white male society is probably the LAST thing these white teachers wanted to do.

    Just my sneaky suspicion, anyways…

    You definitely missed the point of that episode. The message is, as a white male, attempting to relate the problems one such person has in life doesn’t nearly equate to the adversity minorities and women face. The message isn’t, “Since you can’t relate, so just forget about.” It’s, “You can’t relate, don’t pretend you can, and understand you can’t so you can understand and sympathize with their plight.”

    In short, the message is, “Don’t be so stupid.” You’ve taken it to mean the exact opposite

    What is truly sad about this whole situation is that there millions of people in this country who think just like you.

    If I were the principal, I’d suspend them w/out pay pending a legal investigation and take it up with the school’s lawyer. If she said I could, I’d fire them ASAP.

    Hold on Hoss, you responded to me, remember? Thank yourself for this little tete a tete. However, I should tell you that before coming to medical school, I taught in the LAUSD for 5 years. I do have some direct experience in the field :)

    The truth is ostensible; history books written for US consumption have been skewed toward the European perspective. This has been well document.

    Up in arms? Really? I don’t know about you, but I’m having fun here. You should relax, smoke a cigar.

    @BebopCoIa,

    There is an Aisian History month and let’s face it, most of the rest of the months are spent focused on the doings of Europeans.

    So your (what? complaint? joke?) is moot.

    @Redrocker

    An analysis on what is taught in public school is best served by looking at the state’s academic standards. In the big picture of this analysis, it doesn’t matter what you were taught your school. Your experience is purely anecdotal.

    Condescending? Lies? You’re kidding, right? Man-up!!!! If you can’t go toe-to-toe intellectually someone in a discussion, try educating yourself in the rhetorical kills. Stop whining like a school girl.
